There was a particularlly nasty bug reported, where in certain cases (generally after applying a template selection from either the Profiler or Perfmon Pane) that the resulting XML document was mal-formed.

This has been corrected in this release. Additionally, since the new approach is a true match / merge I display a progress bar during the process of applying the template to the tree.

Thank you for the feedback from the Microsoft Premier Field Engineers in Portugal and Germany who helped discover this bug.

Version 1.0.1.0 has been released to correct a serious bug. You may not have encounterd this bug, but if you did then the XML file that was saved was incorrectly formed.
Please download the new version and only use that version.

SQL Diag is a very useful diagnostic tool that will help capture performance information from SQL Server. This tool is shipped with the SQL Server product. Howerver there is not an easy way to configure the tool - it requires the hand editing of an XML file, which is tedious and error prone. That is until now!
SQL Diag Configuration Tool (SDCT) is an intuitive, easy to use tool that will read existing sqldiag.xml configuration files, allow you to select your desired options and save those options to a new file.

This is the initial release. If there are requests I may consider adding the ability to specify custom collectors.

I created XML file using "SQLDiag configuration tool" successfully. However, it gives me error when I try to open it or other xml configuration files.
Error: Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attemp to continue. If you Click Quit, the application will close immediately. Relation EventType_Event does not belong to this Data Set"

Corrected a bug in the installer. It was not creating the Start Menu folders and shortcuts

I recently installed and ran the SQLDiag Configuration Tool. I tried opening SQLDiag100.xml and got the following error. "Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Program Files\Taylor Made Enterprises\SQLDiag Configuration Tool\Configurations\TraceTemplates\10\". Out of curiousity I added the necessary folders to see what would happen. I then got the following error. "Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Program Files\Taylor Made Enterprises\SQLDiag Configuration Tool\Configurations\PerfmonTemplates\10\". After adding the necessary folders again the errors went away.

Is this okay?

Currently I have requests for beng able to configure custom collectors. Another request is to build an executable encapsulating the SQLDiag.exe command line.

As above The install package creates two shortcuts SQLDiagConfigurationTool.exe and SQLDiagConfigurationTool.exe.config in the root of the all programs menu (vista) clicking on SQLDiagConfigurationTool.exe causes an imediate crash. The desk top install icon (if you selected that install option) runs the app.
